Duty Free

Yacht charters can take advantage of duty-free goods to enhance their onboard experience while saving money. Duty-free shopping refers to the purchase of products that are exempt from import and/or sales taxes. Yachts that are travelling to different countries or regions can take advantage of duty-free shopping opportunities at designated ports.

By stocking up on duty-free goods, yacht charters can offer their guests a wider variety of luxury products and save money on high-end items such as alcohol, tobacco, and fragrances. With careful planning, yacht charters can take advantage of duty-free shopping to create an unforgettable onboard experience while maximizing their budget.

Bonded warehouse (duty-free)

When provisioning a superyacht with GDT, enjoy a range of duty-free products for delivery to your yacht charter, thanks to its bonded warehouse.

As a provisioning company, we find our bonded warehouse to be a valuable asset for our business operations. Bonded warehouses provide a secure location for storing our imported goods until customs duty is paid or the goods are re-exported, which enables us to manage our inventory more efficiently.

PLEASE NOTE: You must check that your vessel meets all the conditions to benefit from the duty-free purchasing of provisions.

Regarding established custom laws, here are all the requirements to benefit from GDT’s duty-free service:
  • Commercial boat certification
  • A permanent crew
  • A charter contract
  • Evidence or record of spending more than 70% of the vessel’s cruising time in international waters
  • A delivery window of 48 hours before the start of your yacht charter (for charters on the French Riviera)

Get your documents ready!

Under the rules and laws imposed by the various customs services involved, GDT will ask you for the following documents:
